ADULT CROSS COUNTRY SKI LESSONS-2024

The Eau Claire Ski Striders will again be offering free cross country ski lessons to adults. These lessons will take place at Tower Ridge Recreation Area off County L, east of Eau Claire, 955 S 82nd Ave. Lessons in both skate and classic will be offered on Sunday Jan 21st from 1-4, Monday Jan 22nd from 4:30-6, and Monday Jan 29th from 4:30-6.

Interested adults will be paired with an instructor as a single or small group depending on the day and interest. Classic skiers can expect to cover the classic stride, kick-double pole, and double pole techniques. Skaters will be coached on V1, V2, and V2-alternate techniques. Some uphill and downhill practice will take place in both types on very small hills. The comfort and skill level of the skier will determine how far the session progresses.

The Sunday Jan 21st session will take place from 1-4. The individual lessons will last approximately 1.5 hours. Normally there is an entrance fee of $6 at Tower Ridge but the County has waived the fee for that day.

The Jan 22nd and 29th sessions will take place in conjunction with the KicknKids and CVN youth programs. They will also take place under the lights. There is no fee for Tower Ridge on those nights as the County has also waived the entrance fee for the nights the youth programs are offered.

Please send an Email to boetchera@prodigy.net to let us know you're attending. Also please specify skate or classic technique and your approximate skill level. You will be grouped with folks of the same technique and skill level.

Weather may affect some sessions. We will normally hold these sessions if the temperature is above zero. Snow conditions can also result in a change in plans. Please follow the Eau Claire Ski Striders facebook page for timely information.

Happy trails,

Eau Claire Ski Striders
